FAQ & Fees

Questions people often ask

If you don't see your question here, just ask. There's no such thing as a silly one.

Fees & insurance

How much do sessions cost?

Individual sessions (50 minutes) are $[000]. Couples and family sessions are $[000] for 50 minutes or $[000] for 80 minutes. I reserve a limited number of reduced-fee spots; please ask if cost is a barrier.

Do you take insurance?

I am not in-network with insurance plans, but I can provide a monthly superbill that you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse a portion of the fee.

How do I pay?

Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept credit and debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and [other methods].

Scheduling & logistics

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. I offer secure video sessions for anyone physically located in California. In-person sessions are available at my office in San Francisco.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less notice are charged the full fee, except in cases of emergency.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what you're working on. Some people come for a few months to work through something specific; others find ongoing support valuable. We'll check in regularly about how things are going.

Getting started

What happens on the consultation call?

We'll spend about 15 minutes talking about what's bringing you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and any questions you have about how I work. There's no obligation.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Everything you share in therapy is confidential, with a few legal exceptions related to safety that I'll explain in our first session and in your intake paperwork.
